Many colleges require applicants to present results of a college entrance examination along with their Grade Point Average. The most popular examinations are the SAT and the ACT. Generally an SAT score of 1600 is required for college acceptance.
College-bound students usually score higher on the SAT or ACT when Algebra I and Geometry are completed back-to-back within two years and immediately prior to taking the college entrance exams. Students who do not complete the required high school courses of Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, Physical Science, and Physics or Chemistry can expect not to do as well on college entrance exams.

Grading
Working with a number of universities, ICCE (The International Certificate of Christian Education)
has worked out a system by which admissions tutors can reconcile ACE PACE average scores to conventional grades, as given at GCSE and AS/A2. The table below indicates how grades are derived.
Normally, learners from Christian schools and home schools will apply to universities through the Universities and College Admissions Service [UCAS]. It is very important that learners keep up a good grade average over the whole course. The results of courses for university entrance should be passed on to the ICCE for validation and entered on the UCAS form as grades, not PACE average scores.
The ICCE Grading System
PACE Average per modules Grade
96 100 A
92 95.99 B
88 91.99 C
84 87.99 D
80 83.99 E
Please note that PACE average scores should be rounded to two decimal places.
DETERMINING GPA (GRADE POINT AVERAGE)
Assign each completed high school course a letter grade. The following grading system is suggested:
PERCENT GRADE LETTER GRADE
98100 A+
9697 A
9495 A
9293 B+
9091 B
8889 B
8687 C+
8385 C
8082 C
Each A is worth 3 points. Each B is worth 2 points. Each C is worth 1 point.
Add the total points for all completed courses and divide by the total number of courses. This yields the students grade point average.
Example:
SUBJECT GRADE to GRADE POINTS
Algebra I B 2
English I B+ 2
Etymology A 3
Biology C 1
World History C+ 1
New Testament Survey A 3
Grade Point Average (GPA): 12 divided by 6 = 2.0 (GPA is usually rounded to one decimal). When you report a GPA on a transcript, always specify that a 3-point scale was used. A 4-point scale includes the D grades, which are not used for students on the A.C.E. program.
Universities and colleges that have accepted the NCSC, the forerunner to the ICCE
Over the years graduates of the NCSC Certificate program have gained entry into a wide number of institutions. It is not possible to list each graduate individually, but here is a list of some of the universities, colleges and bodies that have recognized the NCSC and accepted graduates on courses. ICCE is building on the wide acceptance of the former NCSC program.
